Now, I'm just sayin'.....

This just in....dateline: "SANTA MONICA, CA — A 16-count complaint against Sharon Gilboa and his company Woodland Hills-based Clean Dry USA claims that bait and switch tactics were employed and that numerous clients from throughout Southern California were allegedly victimized, according to the Santa Monica Daily Press.

The charges against the company include grand theft by false pretenses, false advertising and elder abuse, the story stated.

Mark Werksman, the attorney representing Gilboa, said: "This case was a result of a huge misunderstanding and misinterpretation of how this company works and what they do for their company. When all the facts are presented, then it will be clear that there was no wrongdoing on the part of anyone and that what we simply had is a number of customers whose complaints are groundless."

Each of the misdemeanor charges carry a maximum sentence of one year in county jail and fine of up to $2,500, the story noted.

The Better Business Bureau, which has received 51 complaints over the past three years about Clean Dry USA, states that customers complain that the technicians employed "high pressure tactics or intimidation to persuade them to agree to much higher priced services," the story added.

According to Werksman, Clean Dry USA was always careful to be clear and precise as to what it was charging for its services."

Okay, I don't know if this company is guilty or innocent but I would like to use them as an example of why the general public does not trust carpet cleaners (or roofers, auto mechanics, and just about anyone in the service business). People, if you are going to advertise or promise something, you've got to deliver AT LEAST THAT, with a smile on your face. Don't make the people feel like asses, or make them beg, just to get something you've put out to them as an offering. It makes you appear, and you probably are, like a rip-off. They won't refer you, they won't hire you again. In fact, the might do a drive by your mcmansion and pop a cap in your ass. I know a few people who would be cheering.
